Visiting Central & Southern Arkansas
Plan your next visit to central and southern Arkansas for the coming winter or spring. Late 2016 and early 2017 will yield loads of fun for all members of the family. From cities like Texarkana to Hot Springs and North Little Rock, central and southern Arkansas will boast an impressive slate of things to see and do – festivals, concerts, outdoor adventures, and more.
Texarkana, found along the AR-TX border and intersected by Interstate 30, is home to Millwood State Park, which is an ideal destination for those who seek fall foliage tours, and a slew of hiking paths. One of the premier, on-going events in Texarkana is happening this fall at the Texarkana Regional Arts Center. Through October 29th you can see the exhibit, Written in the Stars – The Art of Sharon Grimes.
Don’t pass on your chance to experience one of Texarkana’s most anticipated health and wellness fairs. Live to the Thrive 2016 will be held on November 5th starting at 9 a.m. at the Texarkana Convention Center’s Ballroom B. You’ll find vendors, guest speakers, workshops, actives and more.
Any trip into central and southern Arkansas should include a stay in Hot Springs. You can explore the very popular Hot Springs National Park, and you’ll find a bounty of adventures within Lake Catherine State Park. Hot Springs will also be hosting a number of excellent events this fall you’ll certainly want to check out.
On November 4th and 5th you’ll want to make your way to the Arlington Spa for the 20th Annual Autumn Haiku Conference. Hosted by the Arkansas Haiku Society, this two-day event will feature guest poet and speaker Dr. Johnye Strickland. Not long after all the haiku fun, check out the 17th Annual Taste of the Holidays, held this year at the Mid-America Science Museum from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on November 17th.
You can start your 2016 holiday celebrations early at the Hot Springs Christmas Parade. Held on December 5th through downtown Hot Springs, there are few ways better to truly feel the majesty of Christmas in Hot Springs.
