Visiting the Ozarks & Northern Arkansas

As the Ozarks emerge from winter, communities throughout the region gear up for all sorts of spring fun. Opportunities for outdoor adventures abound in the region’s state and national parks, and communities from Conway to Van Buren to Jonesboro are as welcoming as ever. Special events, festivals, family-friendly fun, and more – it’s a great time to experience the Land of Opportunity.

With winter weather giving way to new spring blooms, it’s a great time to embark on a driving tour of the Arkansas Scenic 7 Byway. Even better than the gorgeous surrounding landscape may be the fact that the Byway leads to attractions like Lake Dardanelle State Park, near Russellville, and Hot Springs National Park, outside of Van Buren.

Athletes near and far are getting pumped for the 2016 Iron Pig Multi Sport Festival on March 26th. People of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in a day of competitions, featuring everything from a duathlon, to a 5K, a one-mile fun run/walk, and even a bike course. It all starts at Drake Field in Fayetteville at 8:45 a.m.

Car guys and gals won’t want to miss the 2016 Jonesboro Auto Show & Carnival on April 2nd and 3rd. Held at the Arkansas State University Convocation Center in Jonesboro, the event lets gear heads check out over 100 rare and restored vehicles while families enjoy carnival rides and more. Things rev up at 10 a.m.

Motorcycle riders speed toward Fort Smith for the 2nd Annual Steel Horse Rally on April 29th and 30th. The day’s events fill downtown Fort Smith with a motorcycle show and parade and as well as a chance to fellowship with biker brethren with live music and entertainment, a bikini contest, and a salute to service men and women, law enforcement, and fire officials.

Searcy visitors can get a glimpse at life in pioneer days on April 30th and May 1st. The 2016 Pioneer Village Spring Festival is a celebration of Searcy’s roots, with chuckwagon cooking, live music, historic tours, demonstrations, and more beginning at 10 a.m.
