Visiting Ozarks & Northern Arkansas
Spring and summer are ideal for visitors to northern Arkansas and the Ozark Mountains. With warm weather, Beaver Lake, Bull Shoals Lake and Norfork Lake draw visitors for fishing and water recreation. Bentonville celebrates ArtsFest in June, showcasing the community’s culinary, performance and visual arts. From Bentonville and Fayetteville, to quaint communities like Searcy and Hardy it’s time to explore Northern Arkansas.
Fayetteville cheers on the University of Arkansas Razorbacks basketball and baseball teams through spring before launching a full calendar of summer events. Join the crowds at Bud Walton Arena for Razorback basketball games, and Baum Stadium for men’s and women’s hogs baseball. Keep that training up for April’s 37th Annual Hogeye Marathon. The Hogeye Marathon, Half-Marathon & Relays are April 13th and 14th, with the festivities starting in Fayetteville Square.
The 2013 Bentonville Art and Culinary Festival begins June 1st with Art Fete kicking off a month long series of events. The Bentonville Art Walk is June 7th and 8th, featuring visual arts and jazz. The festivities continue through the month with the Bentonville Culinary Festival, Seedling Film Festival and Notes at Night. Be sure the kids visit the Bentonville Farmers Market featuring the Kid’s Art Park Saturdays through June.
East of Bentonville and Fayetteville, the community of Eureka Springs celebrates summer with a diversity of events. Bicycle rides of all ages and abilities join the fun and challenge of the Eureka Springs 2013 Fat Tire Festival, July 19th through July 21st. Events include mountain bike off road events, downhill courses and cross country racing. Enjoy the winding roads and scenic hills of the Little Switzerland of the Ozarks on your bicycle.
The Northwest Arkansas Volkswagen Association gathers for its 2013 VW Festival, Swap Meet and Tourcade, August 23rd through the 25th. Celebrating the 21st year of one of the best US Volkswagen events, the NWAVWA gathers in Eureka Springs at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks. Northern Arkansas is the place for Volkswagen enthusiasts to be in August.
