Visiting Ozarks & Northern Arkansas

Fall in Northern Arkansas means it’s time for University of Arkansas Razorback 2013 Football. The Hogs entertain hometown fans in Fayetteville at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium through November 2nd. The Razorbacks host Mississippi State November 23rd at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

Celebrate the culture and heritage of Northwest Arkansas at the 66th Original Ozark Folk Festival. An Arkansas fall tradition, the 2013 Ozark Folk Festival is October 23rd through 27th. Festivities include the Barefoot Ball, the Folk Festival Queen, and the Wood Songs Old-Time Radio Hour. The parade begins in Eureka Springs at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon and Sunday's events feature the Gospel Folk Brunch at Basin Spring Park.

Visit the Annual Hardy Homesteaders Day October 5th for an authentic Arkansas Ozarks Cultural experience.  2013 is the 22nd year for Hardy’s Homesteaders Day. Events include live music, wagon rides and the ever-popular terrapin races. Take a step back in time as see how Ozark pioneers lived.

Formerly called 40 Acres of Hell, the 2013 Cycle, Paddle, Run Multisport Race at Lake Dardanelle is October 12th. The start and finish is Lake Dardanelle State Park Beach near Russellville, with events featuring a long and a short race. Participate as an individual or relay team. Either way, be ready for a few unexpected challenges along the way to the finish.

October in Conway brings the 2013 Soaring Wings Half Marathon. Run October 26th beginning at the McGee Center. Conway’s Human Development Center Park hosts the Soaring Wings Kids’ Run Friday evening October 26th. Hosted by Braswell & Son Fine & Estate Jewelry and benefiting a great cause, this is the time to enjoy a fall run.

The Bentonville community comes together November 16th for the 2013 Lighting of the Square. A festive launch to the holiday season, Bentonville Square lights up for the season with live music, food and fun. Sponsored by the Walton Arts Center, Bentonville’s Lighting of the Square makes a great family destination to kick off holiday fun.

The Russellville area celebrates the start of the 2013 holiday season at Lake Dardanelle State Park on December 7th. Winter at the Lake is held at the park visitor center featuring refreshments, crafts and tree trimming. Learn about winter in Northern Arkansas and help make edible ornaments for the birds – Lake Dardanelle State Park is a full day of family fun.
