Visiting the Little Rock Metro Area
This summer, the Little Rock Metro Area welcomes visiting families with all sorts of ways to have fun – indoors and outdoors. From the urban center of Little Rock to neighboring North Little Rock to respites like Jacksonville and Lonoke, calendars are filling with special events, festivals, sports, and more.
With spring blooms filling the countryside with color, it’s a great time to get out and explore the Little Rock area’s unique character on a scenic driving tour. One-of-a-kind roadside attractions await in all directions and communities like Conway and Clinton make for ideal stopping points.
Little Rock may not have it’s own MLB team, but baseball fans can enjoy America’s Pastime with the Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock. Check the schedule during your visit – the 2016 MiLB season goes through the first week of September.
Self-proclaimed “nerds” descend upon Little Rock’s Statehouse Convention Center for the 2016 River City Comic Expo, June 11th and 12th. It’s two days of all-things comics, sci-fi, and pop culture with vendors, workshops, and panel discussions with celebrities, experts, and creators. Come dressed as your favorite pop culture character – the fun starts at 10 a.m. both days.
The 33rd Annual Pops on the River is Little Rock’s biggest Fourth of July celebration. Celebrate our nation’s independence at First Security Amphitheater in Riverfront Park with fireworks, shopping, a classic car show, kids' activities, food and more. Skip lunch and come hungry – it all starts at 12:30 p.m.
To truly taste Little Rock, head down to the River Market, where two open-air pavilions overlook Riverfront Park and the Arkansas River, hosting the weekly Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings through the end of October. From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, the market invites shoppers to browse a broad selection of fresh produce, baked items, and artisanal goods.
