Arkansas Post National Memorial

A 757-acre national park, the Arkansas Post National Memorial is located in eastern Arkansas on the Mississippi River Delta, less than an hour north of McGehee. The first European settlement in the state, Arkansas Post was established in 1686, yet recognized as a National Memorial and National Historic Landmark in 1960.

The site receives nearly 40,000 annual visitors, and features guided tours, outdoor activities, and the onsite Visitor Center and Museum. Visitors may fish, hike, and view historic weapon demonstrations. Kids’ activities include a Junior Ranger program.

Great River Road

The Great River Road is a designated route, consisting of local, state, federal and provincial roads, that spans ten states along the Mississippi River. The route is included in parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Wisconsin. The green and white steamboat pilot wheel highway signs are a distinctive marker depicting the route along the way.

The Wiley A. McGehee Memorial Park is a wonderful recreational area, along the Great River Road in McGehee. Kids love feeding the ducks and fishing at the duck pond.
