From: The north. Take Interstate 40 West to Arkansas 218. Exit 265 toward US 79 South to Hughes, AR to Mairanna, (AR and Highway 79 becomes Highway 1), go south to Highway 49 at Walnut Corner and turn left on Highway 49, the BEST WESTERN Inn is located on the right.

From: The south. Take Interstate 55 South. Get on US 61 South via Exit 7 towards Vicksburg, MS to Tunica, MS. Turn right on Highway 49, cross the Mississippi River bridge, at the intersection turn left on Highway 49, go through three lights, turn left to the BEST WESTERN Inn.

From: The east. Take Highway 79 North to Highway 49 and Highway 79 junction, turn right on Highway 49 South to West Helena, the BEST WESTERN Inn is located on the right.

Delta Cultural Center

Open Tuesday through Saturday, the Delta Cultural Center is located in Historic Downtown West Helena – right along the Mississippi River Delta. A member of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, the DCC acts to preserve Arkansas Delta heritage with exhibits, events, and educational programs.

Free of admission, the DCC consists of three areas: the Train Depot, the Visitors Center, and the Moore-Hornor House. The DCC hosts the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival each October, and King Biscuit Time blues radio – the country’s oldest blues program.

Delta Heritage Trail State Park

Established in 2002, the Delta Heritage Trail State Park is situated along the Mississippi River Delta – covering 960 acres while the trail currently spans 14 miles, connecting Lexa to Barton. This park is exceptional, and it's just one of the many Arkansas state parks you should explore.

Set just west of West Helena, this Arkansas state park is a continuing rails-to-trails conversion. The Delta Heritage Trail State Park visitor center is set in Barton, and features a gift shop and picnic spots. Visit Delta Heritage Trail soon and experience an authentic Arkansas outdoor adventure.

Hampson Archeological Museum State Park

Named for Dr. James K. Hampson, the Hampson Archeological Museum State Park is located on the Mississippi River Delta in northern Arkansas. Less than an hour north of West Memphis, this Arkansas state park covers five acres and features Nodena Site archeological artifacts.

Established in 1961, the park is both a National Historic Landmark and found on the National Register of Historic Places. Free to the public, the park includes guided tours of the museum, plus picnic spots and playgrounds. Hampson is ideal during spring or summer, and is just one of the many state parks in Arkansas.

Hosting nearly 93,000 annual visitors, Lake Poinsett State Park covers 132 acres in northeastern Arkansas – less than an hour northwest of West Memphis. Arkansas features an array of state parks, and this is it's 20th state park. Lake Poinsett State Park was founded in 1963.

Recreation at Lake Poinsett State Park includes hiking trails, nature viewing, kayaking, and fishing for bass, bream, catfish, and crappie. Visitors may trek down the one-mile Great Blue Heron Trail, or try a kayak or canoe tour.

Established in 1815, the Louisiana Purchase Historic State Park contains a granite marker set in a swampland, and marking the “Beginning Point of the Louisiana Purchase Survey.”

Make your way to this historic park with a drive in from West Helena, found to the east. 

Reached by a 950-foot boardwalk, the park is both a U.S. National Historic Landmark and found on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Set 36 miles west of West Helena, the Louisiana Purchase Historic State Park is set along the Mississippi River Delta.

Mississippi River State Park

Found in the St. Francis National Forest, Mississippi River State Park is located along eastern Arkansas’ Mississippi River Delta – just north of West Helena. Found on Bear Creek Lake, this Arkansas state park features a visitor center open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As one of the many Arkansas state parks, Mississippi River State Park yields a full day of hiking on the Bear Creek Lake Nature Trail, picnicking at Beaver Point Picnic Area, and swimming, boating, and bass and bream fishing in Bear Creek Lake.

Parkin Archeological State Park

Also dubbed the Parkin Indian Mound, the Parkin Archeological State Park is located in eastern Arkansas along the Mississippi River Delta – less than 30 miles west of West Memphis. This Arkansas state park is a U.S. National Historic Landmark, and yields a wealth of outdoor adventures.

An archeological site, the park was formerly a 17-acre Mississippi Period village – and now features interpretive exhibits and auditorium. Other amenities include a gift shop, picnic spots, playgrounds, and onsite pavilion. It's just one of the many exceptional Arkansas state parks

Village Creek State Park

Providing a wide variety of activities throughout the year, Village Creek State Park is located in Wynne, near West Memphis, in the River Delta region of Arkansas. The region’s unique geology and vegetation lend themselves to a variety of adventures throughout the park. It's only one of the many AR state parks.

The Ridges at Village Creek, a public, 27-hole course designed by Andy Dye, challenges golfers with considerable changes in elevation, thanks to the rolling hills of Crowley’s Ridge. Lake Austell and Lake Dunn are perfect for fishing and paddle boating, while hiking and horseback riding are other popular activities in the park. 

West Helena Municipal Golf Course

As you travel into the city of Lexa, be sure to book a tee time for the West Helena Municipal Golf Course. One of the top golf courses along the Arkansas Delta region of Arkansas, West Helena Golf Course is a nine-hole, executive style course.
