How to Have a Hoot in Hot Springs

An urban hub amidst the Ouachita Mountains, Hot Springs begs for a visit any time of year. Here are a few of our favorite things to see and do during your central Arkansas visit.

Take a bath.

Opportunities for outdoor adventure await in Hot Springs National Park, set on the northwest side of town. There, visitors will find great hiking fishing and bird watching, beset on all sides by southern Arkansas' lush and diverse landscape.

Pack your swimsuit and take a dip into one of the parks natural budge baths – guides to the best spots are available at the visitor center at Fordyce Bathhouse.

Launch a boat.

To the southeast of Hot Springs, Lake Catherine State Park is another place for one-of-a-kind outdoor fun. Lake Catherine State Park features the CCC Fisherman's Barrack. Be sure to launch your boat at any of the boat ramps, or fish from the shores of Lake Catherine – there's a marina on site if you need to stock your tackle box.

Stop by the visitors center to get a Nature Bingo card and have fun marking off your various sightings.

Enjoy a day on the water.

Lake Ouachita is sparkles against its gorgeous, pristine surroundings, offering visitors chances to enjoy boating, fishing, and more. It's also located right along Scenic Highway 7 – meaning it's an ideal first stop on a scenic driving tour.

Have a magical experience.

Believers young and old will be bewildered by what they encounter at the Maxwell Blade Theatre of Magic. The small theaters entertains guests with big tricks and bigger laughs, along with music and even a bit of poignant philosophy. Check the schedule for showtimes during your visit.
