Texarkana Regional Airport
Arkansas air travelers heading to south often land at the Texarkana Regional Airport. Located east of Texarkana, TRA opened in 1929 with two sod runways. By 1931, American Airlines offered the first commercial flight with a Ford Tri-Motor airplane. The original 1936 terminal building, now serves as the Airport Administration Building.
The airport continues to improve, and is just one of the many Arkansas airports. Whether learning to fly with the Texarkana Flying Club, learning to fly helicopters, renting a car or catching a commercial flight, the airport provides ample services for East Texas and Southern Arkansas general aviation and commercial airlines passengers.
