Southern Arkansas University
Southern Arkansas is home to Southern Arkansas University, in Magnolia. This four-year university was founded in 1909 as the Third District Agricultural School. The school offered high school classes until 1925, when they began to offer college courses.
The college changed its name two additional times throughout the years, until 1976, when it was finally named Southern Arkansas University. It is one of many Arkansas universities.
Over 3,000 students attend this southern Arkansas university to pursue degrees from the College of Business, College of Education, College of Liberal & Performing Arts, the College of Science & Technology, the Honors College and the School of Graduate Studies.
As a member of the Gulf South Conference, the Muleriders compete in football, baseball, basketball, golf and cross-country sporting events. For a fun day, visit the beautiful 1,400-acre SAU campus and be sure to check out the Mulerider Activity Center. Stay close to the university in nearby Texarkana.
