The northern Arkansas city of Jonesboro is home to Arkansas State University. The university was founded in 1909 and established as First District Agricultural School.
In 1930, it began offering four-year degrees and by 1967, the school became a university. ASU remains the only comprehensive public university in northeast Arkansas, and is one of the many across the state.
The more than 13,000 students attending Arkansas State University, have a choice of pursuing 43 degrees in 156 fields of study, from bachelor's to doctorate degrees.
Additional satellite campuses are located in Beebe, Mountain Home, Newport, Heber Springs, Marked Tree, and Searcy. While in northern Arkansas, cheer on the Red Wolves during one of the scheduled football, basketball, or baseball games.
