A 757-acre national park, the Arkansas Post National Memorial is located in eastern Arkansas on the Mississippi River Delta, less than an hour north of McGehee. The first European settlement in the state, Arkansas Post was established in 1686, yet recognized as a National Memorial and National Historic Landmark in 1960.
The site receives nearly 40,000 annual visitors, and features guided tours, outdoor activities, and the onsite Visitor Center and Museum. Visitors may fish, hike, and view historic weapon demonstrations. Kids’ activities include a Junior Ranger program.
