Jonesboro is home to Arkansas State University, and is situated in between Blytheville, and Batesville. Established in 1910, Arkansas State is a public institution offering undergraduate and graduate degrees from a range of colleges within the university.
Set in Arkadelphia, Henderson State University was established in 1890 as the Arkadelphia Methodist College. It was 1904 when the school changed its name to honor Charles Christopher Henderson. Offering an array of degrees from the Ellis College of Arts and Sciences, the school also boasts a respectable athletics department competing in NCAA Division II.
South of Hope is Magnolia, a charming little city in southern Arkansas home to Southern Arkansas University. A public university, SAU was established in 1909 as the Third District Agricultural School. SAU offers a broad palette of degree opportunities, and fields athletic teams that compete at the NCAA Division II level.
In Clarksville, travelers find the University of the Ozarks. Established in 1834, U of O is Arkansas’ oldest university in Arkansas. A small, private institution, U of O features a modest, 30-acre campus atop College Hill in Clarksville.
